Caller of the timeout
I was curious as to why the caller of the timeout is recorded. I've always seen the refs tell the scorer's table, eg., "Timeout, Red coach", or Timeout, Red #15, etc....
Why does this matter? |
The scorer should also be entering the time that the time out was called. When a coach disputes the number of time outs he has remaining the book will have the times and who called them.
|
First of all only the head coach or a player may request a time out. Then when we give the person who requested the time out it is listed in the book for future reference in case of a disagreement later in the game. Also the time as David has stated.

Coach to the table: I should have at least 2 TOs remaining
Table: Nope, #12 requested & was granted your last 30 at 3:15 in the 1st... you were granted your last full at :16 in the 4th. |
All times are GMT -5. The time now is 04:04am. |
