Can a player hang on the net?

Had a situation in a BV game. Player jumps, grabs the net and hangs on to it. No shots were being taken so i couldn't call BI...and I know hanging on the rim (except to avoid injury is prohibited)...but what about the net? He wasn't in the lane for 3 seconds, so I couldn't call that. We told him to knock it off, and he did, but, is there any recourse?

I believe it would be a Player technical foul.
10-3-4: A Player shall not..Grasp either basket during the time of the officials' jurisdiction.

Yep. And 1-10-1, which defines basket.
