Calf band

Is there any rule dealing with wearing a sweat band around your calf?
I did not ask if it was for medical purpose. He only had 1 on his leg. It was below the knee. But it did not match his white uniform. I just let it go. It was not worth addressing.
Earlier in warm ups. I did inform a player from the visiting team that the sweat band had to be worn below the elbow.

Doesn't matter if it matched his uniform, if it is for medical reasons it can be any color, if not he can't wear it...I think I can picture the band you are referring to, I believe it is either worn as patella support or for shin splints (any orthopedics in the house?)...assuming it is this type of band, I'm not even asking the question...

If worn, sweatbands must be the same color as the jersey or white and must be worn on the arm, below the elbow.

IOW, make him take it off. Sweatbands are never for medical reasons, btw.

Got the rule, understand the rule. However, is there a specific rule pertaining to this band being worn on the calf?

Never mind found the rule in which it prohibits the band being worn in this fashion

3-5-4; Equimpment and apparel shall not be modified from the original manufactured state and shall be worn in the manner the manufacturer intended it be worn.

And does it say "Calf band" on the package? Does one of his calves sweat enough that he needs something to wipe it off?

Come on people! Don't make things so complicated.

Apparently, there actually is a "calf band".

Yeah, in my part of the country, we call calf bands "socks".

kbilla already cited 3-5-3c.

If it's really a sweatband, then heve them take it off. If it's one of the "new" "patella supports" with the nike logo, worn just under the knee, then it's allowed.

saw one of the bands last year. I asked the player what it was for. she said her kneecap was "loose" and would slide over when hit if she didn't wear the band. Said when it happened it hurt like crazy and looked even worse.

Right. I wear one of these after hurting my knee at camp this summer. But this is not a sweatband. Perfectly legal. A sweatband on the leg is never legal.

This affliction is caused by a condition called kneemonia. It's similar to toelio. ;)
