One of my partners did this a couple of weeks ago. I decided to try it at the wreck league on Sunday. I actually did alright with it, the whistle did not hit the ground. However, I felt insecure the whole game and will return to using a lanyard of a full-time basis.

Officials should not be allowed to hold their whistle in their hand. PERIOD! Looks bad and problems do come of this during a game.

The last two games I didnt use my lanyard. It slows me down and help me focus more when I dont use one. This is my humble opinion.
