Officials Choice?

HI All,

New official.

Ordered a bunch of stuff from Officials Choice.

Have tried to contact them and their voice mail is full and they are not returning calls.

Anyone know what's happening. Have they shut down or what?

Thanks

Mark Padgett Sat Dec 08, 2007 01:22pm

Maybe they invested all their money in Travis Correll's ponzi scheme? :p

I ordered some shirts from them at the beginning of this season and received them exceptionally quick...sorry to hear your having problems..

HawkeyeCubP Sat Dec 08, 2007 03:58pm

It's hit or miss with them, depending on who you ask. I doubt they're closed down. (I believe a poster or two have direct contact with the owner from time to time, so you may hear from them, to clarify for sure.)

If you search the forum for other threads about them, you'll see a wide range of answers on both sides of the fence.

I, personally, have had a very good experience with them, a very bad experience with them, and what I would consider a decent and typical internet retail experience with them.

I order shirts from them all the time. Your best bet is to email them, Paul usually is pretty good about emailing you back

Why do you go through so many shirts?

He must sweat a lot.

Or maybe he is generous and buys for fellow officials.

I am a fairly new official in basketball, baseball, and volleyball. So I like their prices and the material of their shirts.

Anybody get anything from Plus Pos? I ordered some stuff, returned it because of wrong sizes and a button was broken, and havent been able to get ahold of anyone there, and still havent been refunded my money

DonInKansas Sun Dec 09, 2007 02:53am

PlusPos is out of business; you may have to try and track down your shipment.

Good luck! As Don said, they are out of business.

personal preference: Honiqs, to me sometimes cheaper is not better than quality and service.

MadCityRef Sun Dec 09, 2007 03:42pm

If you paid by credit card to +POS you can contest the charge with your card company because you never received shipment. Same with Officials' Choice.

IREFU2 Mon Dec 10, 2007 09:07am

I just recently ordered from Ump Attire (spelling?), got my stuff in two days.

Well, I paid with my debit card  how would I go about doing this?

If your debit card has a Visa or Mastercard logo, you just need to call the customer service number and say you want to dispute a charge. They'll walk you through it from there.

swkansasref33 Mon Dec 10, 2007 11:42am

apparently, they dont dispute charges after 90 business days. I ordered the stuff for football season, and I returned it, and never they never credited it back to me, so im out 100+ dollars now

I haven't ordered anything from Officials Choice in about a year. But in my previous orders, I received them in good time.

BTW - since we are talking about OC: Why did they stop selling their patent leather shoes? I thought they were fairly decent. Of course, I discovered other shoes I can wear now, but I was just curious.

His real name is Bruce Banner, and sometimes the coaches really get to him.

Those shoes are the best! I own two pair....but, I too wondered why OC discontinued supplying them. I beta tested the original shoe for Paul and found them to be a superior shoe compared to Converse, Rebook, etc. The last time I spoke with Paul...he just said he had no plans to further carry the shoe. Hope he reconsiders....I'm real partial to these and would need suggestions from those who owned them and went to another shoe, as to what brand are you wearing now?

You'll never know how to make a toss now.:D

If you've ordered from a company that's gone out of business, you are considered a creditor, and you have to put in a claim with the bankruptcy court if you want to protect your rights. Creditors might get pennies on the dollar, so it might be more trouble than it's worth, but something to consider.

I needed another side-panel shirt so I decided to try out Officials Choice. I ordered this shirt last Tuesday and still haven’t received it. The owner emailed me and said they were back-logged in orders and were just now getting shipments out so I should receive mine shortly. (Hopefully before this Saturday.)

While I appreciated that email reply, I will note for future reference that it only takes 2 days for my stuff to arrive from Honigs. A bit more expensive, but less hassle.

However, I don’t fault Officials Choice at all and I won’t think of them negatively. It’s like Costco vs Sams. They are essentially the same store and have the same items, but in the end, you just like one more than the other.

Just my opinion....

$20 more per shirt isn't exactly just a bit more expensive.

imaref Tue Dec 11, 2007 07:08pm

OC has the best shirts around! The MicroSofter material holds up well....breathes.....and cleans up really well. The $13.95 shirt special price beats any company I've seen. I order form OC with very good service. :)

Texas Aggie Wed Dec 12, 2007 04:19pm

I have 7 shirts from OC. The one I bought in '05 is great, as are the 3 side panel shirts I bought in summer (I think) of '06. The 3 (actually 6, but sold 3) shirts I bought in spring of '06 (regular; not side panel) are not holding up well. The loop is poorly made and too elastic, plus the material is not as soft as the other shirts. I'll probably donate these shirts next year and buy more.

I placed an order with Official's Choice at 5:28 pm (local time for OC), at 6:10 I recieved an email saying my order had been shipped. Only 42 minutes.

bgtg19 Thu Dec 13, 2007 08:56am

I ordered some stuff from OC about 10-11 years ago and had no problem; stuff came on time as ordered. Shortly after that, however, I kept hearing how many officials had problems with them and so I never ordered again ... until this year. In early November, attracted by the $13.95 price, I ordered a bunch of shirts and some whistles and a few days later they were at my house. (I like the feel of the shirts, but I dislike the loop which seems flimsy.)

I'm sorry that the original poster is having trouble. I've never had trouble with OC but maybe I've just been fortunate.

QuinnVT Thu Dec 13, 2007 09:31am

I get emails from them all the time, plus I got shirts and whistles from them in November, so I am pretty sure they are still around. Have had no complaints with them or Honig's or RefShop

Well, I wore a lot of different shoes over the years. Currently, for some of my lower end games and adult leagues, I wear a pair of basketball shoes that I've had for a few years. I originally wore the shoes primarily for playing in adult leagues and they were pretty good. I thought they were fading a little bit but they have hung in there.

Otherwise, I swap between a pair of NB cross trainers (not my favorite) and a pair of Nike Shox running shoes.

ref2coach Tue Dec 18, 2007 12:47am

I ordered a new shirt and pants from pro-ref.com last Wed. I called around 1 PM, the order was taken. I had them hem the pants. I got the e-mail Thursday morning that they had shipped. Arrived today Monday. Including the day I ordered 3 business days from order to receipt. That level of service sure impressed me.

KingTripleJump Tue Dec 18, 2007 10:35am

Well the shirt from The OC finally arrived last week. The fabric is great and it's really smooth. However, it's WAAAAYYY too big. I ordered a M and it says M in the shirt. But it's about 1-2 sizes too big and is clearly an "extra tall" shirt. The length comes down to the middle of my thighs almost. I wore it anyway since we as a crew decided what shirts we were wearing a week in advance. (I could literally hear the shirt "flapping" as I was running up and down the court last weekend. I was laughing so hard.)

So if anyone wants to swap a side-panel shirt (S for a M or a regular sized M for a M-L extra tall) send me a PM.

(sidenote--I ordered a 2nd side panel shirt from Honigs. Hopefully that one fits great like the rest of their shirts I've ordered in the past. Surprisingly, I ordered that one last Thursday and it's not here yet. )

Texas Aggie Wed Dec 19, 2007 01:48pm

OC shirts DO run large, but in my case, they only run a size large, not 2, or even 1.5. I wear an XXL, but have to go with XL with OC.
