intentional foul

Player A intentionally fouls player B on an attempt.
1-ball goes in basket - count the bucket two shots and the ball back
2-ball does not go in basket - two shots and the ball back

Player A intentionally fouls player B away from the basket, no attempt,
not in the bonus
-----------------------------------------------
Player A intentionally fouls player B away from the basket, team in the bonus
no attempt
-----------------------------------------------------
Player A intentionally fouls player B in the back court, team B in the bonus
no attempt
-----------------------------------------------
Player A intentionally fouls player B in the back court, team B not in the bous, no attempt
---------------------------------------------

How many shots (if any)
where does the ball get put back in play

help me by filling in the blanks

Rulebook 10-6 Penalties 4.

I'll take a shot at it, as a newbie to this side.

To be technical, you have not indicted an "intentional foul". You have only told us he did it intentionally. But anyway...

2 shots for all of them, ball gets put back in play at spot where the foul occurred - counts as a team foul as well.

There's only one exception to the intentional foul penalty, and he didn't ask about that sitch! It's an attempted 3-point shot that doesn't fall. In that case, the penalty is 3 shots and the ball back.

Intentional Fouls are enforced at the closest spot of the foul after you shoot the free throws.

Count any made basket, 2 FTs & the ball OOB at the spot nearest to the foul

Remember - unlike a technical, the fouled player must take the free throws, unless injured, then his/her substitute takes them. Oh yeah - the lane is always cleared for the shots.

Hope that helps.

... and if a sub takes the shots, the 'injured' player must stay out of the game until after time has come off of the clock after the throw-in. Right?

Correct.

And always remember your shirt - I had to loan out an extra Tuesday night.

Just to clarify....

Intentional personal fouls have a throw-in at the closest spot to the foul. Intentional technical fouls always have a throw-in at center opposite the table, as do all technical fouls.

You are right. I was not considering a dead ball situation.
