Off ball foul on made basket (NCAA)
Fan here with a question about a play I saw in an NCAA game:
As an offensive player is shooting a three, a defensive player who is fighting through a screen away from the ball commits a foul. I know that you'll either award the ball back to the offense or they'll shoot free throws depending on the bonus situation. But, what determines whether the basket counts?
I assume that the ball must be out of the shooter's hands before the contact occures. Is that correct? Thanks in advance.
