First time for everything.

I had a lot of firsts last night while working a college game.

I had my first college game of the year. I had my first game in a new conference, so it was the first time I worked at this school. I worked with my partners for the first time. This was the first time I drove by myself for such a distance to a college game (previously I have gone with other officials for that distance). First college game I had with media timeouts.

Here is the big time first. This was the first time I sat in on and interstate for about 6 or 7 hours while waiting moving about a mile for a couple of hours at one time during the trip.

Otherwise it was a fun day of firsts. :D

BTW, does the State of Indiana know how to put salt down for an ice storm? :D

Peace

What you did not have was a first thread inviting a Padgett wisecrack that did not contain a Padgett wisecrack.

No it was not. I am likely a ways from that. For some reason this conference has media timeouts for radio. I have heard of those before but I have never had a game personally where that was the case.

Peace

Could be a fun day this Wednesday if predictions come true.

I'm hoping our stellar weathermen uphold their tradition of not knowing what the heck is going on with the weather in this area and therefore it will be sunny and 50o!

PS - I have games Tues and Thurs and NOT Wed!

The first game I worked this year was about 3 weeks ago, a JUCO game and it came complete with radio media timeouts as well...

No!

Rut- congrats on the assignment...

As a former short-term resident of Indiana, I can promise you that they have absolutely no clue how to handle the roads in the winter! (once took me 4 hours to drive from Teere Haute to Evansville, twice the normal time)

Not sure if you were working Heartland ball, but I do remember them taking media timeouts...have a great season.
