Interesting, Paul. Thanks for it.

He usually has a couple of these columns during the season that really point toward good sportsmanship.

From the article:

"This is also the time of the year when referees and coaches sit down together to discuss rules and regulations and attempt to hammer out age-old differences, which seem to plague the two bodies each and every year."

Does this happen anywhere? Thoughts?

Our interpreter speaks at a pre-season meeting with coaches. One of the local HS has some of us go in to go over the rule changes and points of emphasis with the coaches and prospective players. When I played in Maine, we always had on official come in to do the same. Since the columnist is in Maine, perhaps that is something that still goes on, but maybe not.

I think it's a slight exaggeration. During the preseason, hopes are always high for good relations. Coaches go to rules meetings and ask questions, for example. Everyone talks like they're on the same page.

Personally, I'm looking forward to coaches always being in their boxes. ;)
