Off topic - typical Turkey Day
 

Went to a fancy hotel in downtown Portland for Turkey Day with a lot of the rest of the family. Had turkey and salmon (hey - it's the Pacific Northwest). My wife had turkey and prawns. My daughter had turkey and lobster. My son had turkey and shrimp. The stuffing had almonds (yum). For some reason, they served sweet potatoes and yams. My wife had cheesecake with liquor flavoring for dessert. It's a good thing I was driving. The best part was that my son-in-law picked up the tab.

Oh yeah, I got there the same time as my son and he told the person at the front desk we were with the "Weaselpants" party.

Also oh yeah, my grandson Nick put grapes in his nose. :D

I had a boring day except for a little football, GTG to bed to get up at 4 am for the sales.

Free food from sons-in-laws, hmmm, I had 2 boys, bettin I ain't getting free food from a daughter-in-laws...

No way. Josh is a lot better guy than Mark could ever hope to be. :D Those kids (and choosing Merri) are without question the best think Mark has accomplished in his life.

But back to the subject. I had a nice day. All the comfort foods from my childhood, including mincemeat pie with whipped cream. My mom cooked it all, and did all the dishes afterward, bless her. The best part was having all my kids with me, healthy and well, and moving forward with their lives. It's the best T-Day I've had for years and years.

From my all time favorite movie, "Inherit The Wind" with Spencer Tracy (Henry Drummond) and Fredrick March (Matthew Harrison Brady), the true story of the Scopes monkey trial.

Brady: (on the witness stand) - "I never think about things I never think about."
Drummond: (cross-examining) - "Do you ever think about things you do think about?"

Incredible film. The remake with Jason Robards was OK, but not as good as the original. BTW - I was in the play my senior year in HS. I played Drummond, of course.

Uh, yea, sure. I've got a nice piece of property in the French Quarter you can have for a couple hundred thousand. Interested?

Don't get the reference. Please explain. The original novel, "Inherit The Wind", was based very closely on the actual trial even though much of the dialog was dramatized, as it is for almost every adaptation.

Juulie - I'm sure you're familiar with the trial. It was a landmark case and led the way for the teaching of evolutionary theory in public schools.

Juulie's right, the movie, while possibly good or even great cinema, doesn't exactly deserve "the true story" as a moniker.

Oh yeah - did I mention the restaurant also had octopus? I am not making this up. It was diced into some kind of vegetable salad. I didn't see anyone having any of that, though.
