Couldn't believe the opening on the article on the officiating.com front page. Maybe he thought he was funny. Not a strong thinker IMO.

Jeff is a very good ref (I hear, I've never watched him) who is also very open about his foibles. I always enjoy reading his articles because they are so human. He's a person who refs, who's not afraid to be seen as a person.

I really didn't appreciate his comments about not calling 3 second violations in middle school games. If he doesn't make the calls, how does he expect the kids to learn the rules?

I see he's a middle school teacher. Does he also not mark incorrect answers on tests? Same principle.

I think he used a poor way to express himself.
