New Official
Hi Everyone,
I am a fairly new high school official and need to find a good place to get a new shirt and pants (and anything else I might need). I have been looking online a little bit, but I was wondering if anyone out there had any suggestions: 1.) ..for a good place to find supplies for a good price. 2.) ..on what is the best type of shirt, pants, whistle, etc that you all would recommend. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You! |
I do all my shopping at www.honigs.com. Others will recommend other places, and they are good too. I just prefer Honigs.
Get the V-neck shirt. I don't like the look of the mesh, but that's mainly preference. You may want to ask around to see what other officials in your area wear. As for pants, the pants on honigs are all good - pleated, non-belted seem to be the favorite of most these days. They are certainly my preference. Whistle - I use the Fox-40 CMG (has the rubber around the tip, as I'm a "chomper"), but that or the Fox-40 is the way to go. Some use the Fox-40 mini, but I don't like the sound as well. |
When I lived in Kansas, I was close enough to drive to Kansas City to this store; now I order my stuff from them online.

I use and highly recommend Torch's Referee & Umpire Supplies:

Oftentimes, you can get a package deal for a complete uniform, equipment bag and whistles, etc. Tony recommends Officials Choice, but many others would direct you to www.honigs.com. |
I use either Fleming's Ref and Sport ( http://www.refandsport.com ) or Ump-Attire ( http://www.ump-attire.com ). I bought a new shirt from Ump Attire, ( http://www.ump-attire.com/Merchant2/...egory_Code=BSH ) and it is absolutely amazing. The most comfortable shirt I have worn.
