Matthew 15:10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: (KJV)
Matthew 24:15 ...whoso readeth, let him understand: (KJV)

It is tiresome to continue to explain and even admit that I made a mistake and declare that I would correct the mistake, only to have someone accuse me of not agreeing. Apparently he is unable to understand what he reads.

This will be a great spot for me to bow out of this discussion. I believe that I've said everything I wanted to say.

Thank you to all those who offered their input. Regardless of how some may characterize my position, I did learn some valuable lessons from this thread that will make me a better official.

Please quote the verse where Jesus called to the mulitude to say he'll get back to them when their reading comprehension improves. Which you've just done again btw.

Thank you.

I seriously doubt I have ever been grouchy by a conversation on a discussion board. I know this might become a shock to some people, but they are just words. If that upsets people then I feel it says more about them then me. And if you were paying attention to this conversation, I did not ever call someone a name or accuse anyone of anything. I even spent many posts clarifying my position. Juulie, I have seen you use much more harsh words in the past few months than anything I have said in this post. I can tell you not one time was I ever offended by your words. ;)

Peace

That's why I said "sometimes SEEM grouchy". I know that it's easy for a person's words on the screen to be misinterpreted. Mine, and others. Although as you point out, when I really get grouchy, everyone knows it!! Dan and Jurassic are more like me than you in that, I think!

Um no, I've already stated that it's a waste of time discussing it with you. Why would I want to continue wasting my time?

Look, we all know that integrity is an important thing, but some careers demand a much higher level of accountability concerning integrity than other jobs do...

On the subject of interaction with coaches, I think the setting makes ALL the difference. If you are calling a local jr. high tourney where everybody knows everybody, as far as I'm concerned you can go into the hospitality room and play cards with the coaches between games and it won't hurt anybody. Calling any varsity game anywhere, I agree activity should be kept to a minimum.

As far as input from a coach being helpful to an official, I say never totally dismiss any opportunity to learn. Think of it this way: You work in a slaughterhouse and your job is to hit the pigs (coaches) on the head with a sledgehammer. If the pig makes a simple, reasonable request, (Don't hit me until I have my eyes closed.) you can weigh it and see if it merits your consideration.
Just don't let the pig (coach) talk you into swinging the hammer with only one hand.

Interesting to take the time to make a post discussing the fact that the discussion is a waste of time. :D

I agree 100%

It's also a waste of time telling you that you are a waste of time too. But you already know that, so I won't bother saying that again either.:)
