Finals
Eades
Weimer
Gray My picks!

Adam Fri Nov 16, 2007 01:34pm

Already?

Dan_ref Fri Nov 16, 2007 01:39pm

Why wait to the last second?

I have my money on Bhuch Elics, I'm 138% positive he'll be in the mix!

I'm starting to doubt whether Bhuck Elics really exists. I'm 2.5434335% positive it's a sooodonim.

rockyroad Fri Nov 16, 2007 02:01pm

If Bhuck does make it that far, I'm 1000% positive the game will go into double OT!

All furry-nadded beavers are communists. Rush Limbaugh said that, so it must be true.

And all furry-nadded squirrels are pinko, communist-sympathizing diversive school teachers. And they're usually short too.

And don't get me started on Cubs fans.........

I'm with you. If the guy doesn't have those 3 in his top 4 picks, what does he know?

Close call, but I'm going to put my money on 3 officials. :D

Me.

The Basketball forum is definitely the frat house on O.Com. I get a kick out of reading these threads and I don't even work basketball. :D

That's only 2 1/2 officials.

Adam Sat Nov 17, 2007 04:02pm

I thought they were going to cancel the final four this year in honor of Diebler.

Sorry...the neanderthal in me is coming out. I naturally assumed the sorority sisters would be hanging out at the frat house too but I'm rather uncouth...and a recent college grad.

There's been a lot of that going around lately. They haven't found a cure for it yet either.

I would add Bryan Kersey to the list as well.

I figured the Hollywood writer's strike would've fixed it. If Hollywood can't solve our problems, who can?

Is Higgins still calling? Not seen him on the tube much this year, he must be cutting back him and Burr rabbit.

I've seen Higgins on a couple of Big 12 games this year...

Jay R Sat Dec 29, 2007 04:13pm

According to this, he's worked 26 games already.

Rich Sat Dec 29, 2007 05:31pm

And Welmer's worked at least 43 to this point.

Seems like even our favorite official pops up there:

I believe Jon Diebler will work the Final Four. OSU won't make it that far so he will be available.

Rich Sun Dec 30, 2007 11:36am

Love that site. Too bad it requires a subscription/limits access.

http://www.bbstate.com/officials.php?o=169

Welmer's worked 44 games as of yesterday, 12/29/2007. In December, he had off the 6th, 7th, 24th, 25th, and 26th. That's 24 games in 29 days in December.

Bwtween his season start on November 9 and today, he's had a total of 44 games in 51 days. Wow. Say what you want about his post-season assignments, he sure is wanted by enough people to keep him working day in and day out.

24 games in 29 days is not unusual. When I first started officiating I had one of the local "big dawgs" send me his schedule. I counted him working 26 days in January of that season.

It's not unusual for us. We drive to games and have normal lives (most of us, anyway). All of Welmer's games involve plane rides and hotel rooms.

I agree. Maybe we could take a collection and all share the username/password.

Or maybe we could dip into the fund that gets collected when somebody asks about catching your own airball.

When I referred to a local "big dawg" I wasn't talking about "us", I was talking about someone who has the same visibility and level of games as Welmer.

Unless he's playing for Valpraiso in the NIT.

I watched Valpraiso/Carolina last night for a while. Brother Jake Diebler plays for Valpraiso. Let's just say that Jake ain't no Jon. Then again, who is? :D
