Thrower in A1 before releasing the ball fakes a throw at B1's face who is defending at the throwin point. As B1 turns breifly in reaction to the action, A1 is able to get the ball inbounds.

I believe the previous responses stated that this may border on unsportsmanlike conduct.

The only warning I gave to the thrower in was that if she broke the plane with the ball that the defender could slap it away.

The question would be.... is there anything wrong with someone fakeing a throw at another players face to cause them cease defending because they think bodily harm is iminent

Not specifically. Actually I think it is a good play. But you can take any action if that action in your opinion is seen as unsportsmanlike. But the problem I have with it being ruled that way, what if the player was not trying to in any way fake at the defender's face? What if the defender was moving and the action just appeared at his face. But than again that is our job to make those judgements. I personally feel there has to be much more there than just one fake at a player's face or at least what appears to be that way.

I agree with Rut, if a player persists in faking hard "blows" pretty near to an opponent's face with the ball, I have a T.

It is unsproting. I'm not going to give a T. I won't interrupt play. But, the frist chance i get, I will ask the player not to do it again. usually this is not a problem in a game. If a player does this, he will probably only do it once.
