Equipment Bag Question

The equipment bag I use for non-baseball sports I do is getting old and worn out. Also, I wear size 15 wide shoes, so I have a hard time finding bags to fit my shoes and sweaty gear in after games.

What do you guys use as a bag to carry your equipment and uniforms in? Do you have a favorite? Where did you get it?

Also, since I do multiple sports, I have multiple rule books and materials. Anyone have a good case to carry them in that they would recommend?

While this may seem trivial to some on the forum, I just would like to make my life easier, and my uniforms looking better at games.

Thanks!

Well...I suppose I'll answer this (see previous threads for the on-going inside joke)...

I use a rolling suit case. Fits everything very nicely. I got mine from an online store (www.luggagebase.com). I've used this site twice and they are pretty good and have decent prices. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend, etc. as far as what kind of bag you get.

Here's a picture of Tanner carrying his equipment bag to a game:

Most of the rest of us pick up something at Target, Wal Mart, or the like. For me, I like the rolling carry-on size suitcase. It's a pain to roll it over a gravel parking lot, but it's great on sidewalks and hallways. I've seen others use the over-the-shoulder gym bags. I guess it's just a matter of preference, and how much stuff you need to bring with you.

I used a rolling suitcase for a while. Then I moved here, and virtually everyone uses an over-the-shoulder gym bag. As the new guy, I wasn't interested in standing out too much, so I started using my bag instead.

That must really eat up the game fees, Tanner.

Here's what I use. Kind of hard to fit in a locker, though.

That and it's not a very smooth ride.

I got mine from Eastbay. Here's the link to what I use: http://www.eastbay.com/catalog/produ...032102/size--/
Oh yeah...I have size 14 feet...so I'm at least close. My shoes fit in just great with room to spare.

I got this 4-piece set at BJ's Wholesale and use the 21" expandable bag for my games.

IF you want a really nice bag and want to shell out some $....Check out a line called Ogio.

I just picked up a black rolling suitcase from Wal-mart. It works for me in football, basketball, and track. I get razzed by my football crew because I'm the only one with a rolling case, but it's got a lot of space and I usually have more than I need in it.

When I see the rolling suitcase I figure the guy got kicked out of the house.

I used luggasebase too. Fast shipping, I thought I got a decent price.

Such Joy on the Forum, it's shocking

Mark,

No not each, I get quantity discounts.

I like the blimp bag, I grew up in Akron and my dad worked for Goodyear, I just didn't know at the time he could get me one!

Junker Thu Nov 08, 2007 10:44am

I went with the roller bag last season and didn't care for it. I'm back to just your common duffel this year.

Texas Aggie Thu Nov 08, 2007 12:05pm

I used a personalized duffle for years, then went rolling a few years ago. I'd never go back. The last thing I want to do is carry a heavy bag across the parking lot after a game. Besides, I have no problem fitting all my gear in there where with the duffle things got cramped.

I used to have a shoulder bag, but it got heavy, especially during football and track seasons. I didn't want to burden my shoulders, as I teach sign language, and having an arthritic shoulder can be a problem. The rolling suitcase prolongs my teaching career. :)

They fit nicely in the whistle pocket.

Odd Duck Thu Nov 08, 2007 03:23pm

I use a garmet bag on wheels. That way I can hang everything up between games and when game day arrives, I simply reach in the clost...fold and zip...then off I go. Keeps the dress clothes neater during the games as well.

As a former Boy Scout I always want to be prepared and the "old timers" around here are particular about the crew looking the same so I carry everything...regular shoes with high polish and patent leather...shirts with a flag and without (and I always bring extra pants just in case there is rippage). It has plenty of room and during the off season wifey and I can use it for travel.

With my shoulder bag, for a long trip [a couple + hours], I pre-pack the stuff in two 17"x12"x6" plastic boxes with lids. Jacket is loosely folded in one. ;)
