New College level jackets?

I was my first college game in over 1½ years and almost didn't realize the officials were at the game because they had on new (to me) black jackets with white stripes where the sleeves meet the shoulders.

Is this the new thing for college officials now? Looked kinda sharp to me.

Yes those jackets are new and yes they are ugly.

I wore mine for the first time tonight. Besides someone making more money, I would just like to know why they had to change in the first place.

JRutledge Sun Nov 04, 2007 01:42am

Stat,

You are kind of late. We have talked about these jackets several times in the past few week. :D

This is the oldest I can find.

I wasn't expecting to do any college games this year until a local school contacted me about filling in temporarily while thry try to find a new stat intern. Heck, I'm stil trying to get used to the new NCAA rule and stat changes.

dahoopref Sun Nov 04, 2007 05:35pm

My Travelpro roller bag looked over stuffed because this years jacket takes up twice as much room more than last years. I store mine in a plastic bag now because I saw my partners white stripes got really dirty after 2 games.

rgncjn Sun Nov 04, 2007 10:43pm

I dislike my new CCA jacket.

tjones1 Sun Nov 04, 2007 10:49pm

I don't use one, but I have a really hard time getting over the old jacket. I think they look a lot better!

I'm sure that you will get over your.....um.....er......attachment to your old jacket one day. There will be other jackets, I'm sure. I'm sure that one day you'll find that one special jacket.

Feel better now?

That was just an awesome, dare I say, magnificent attempt at empathy.

But you must give poor Tanner a break. He feels a certain attachment to all of his gear. That's why he brings so much with him to every game. I have it on good authority that, even though his first game isn't until tomorrow, he started packing his gear last week. Even so, he may still not have time to work up to that optimum level of gear that he demands. One can only hope that for his sake they start manufacturing those PODS containers in larger sizes.

I'll bet he still forgets his whistle.

JRutledge Mon Nov 05, 2007 11:05am

If you get that larger check, I bet you will get over whether to wear this jacket or not. :D

Peace

Nope, not a chance.

He has a large number of each type of whistle. What we use as a bag for all of our equipment, he uses that size bag just for his whistles. He's got 'em all: Dolphins, Classics, Mini's, Pearls...(but no Minnie Pearls that I know of. Even though there's room enough in his trunk...hey, has anyone seen Minnie recently?!?...)

Is this so he can match his partners?

Probably.

It wouldn't surprise me if he has red wig in there somewhere so he can match when he works with me. ;)

Pink tutu for working with Dan? Fishnets for working with Padgett?

He may need to buy one of those cable-installation vans so he can store all of his gear in his vehicle. Then, he could just dress in the van; bringing his own locker room might save some time.

It's not necessarily an "either-or" question. ;)

Btw, do you like my OOB, directional point mechanic?

My middle name is empathy.

Even as we speak, FedEx is winging a relief package to Tanner, something to take his mind off of his loss. The package contains a twinkie. Sure, it may be a used twinkie, but it's the thought that counts.

The plane should be just about over Bayonne right now, heading west. Hold on, Tanner. Be a brave l'il soldier. Help is on the way.

JRutledge Mon Nov 05, 2007 12:44pm

Just make sure you stop the clock first. And I would like it better if your thumb was not sticking out. :D

Cleaners put too much starch in the gloves. You should've seen how embarassed I was when they had too much starch in the middle finger the last time.

Alright... finally got packed for tonight.

No twinkies, they were donuts and I got them last Thursday around this time. :D Great care package!!!

KingTripleJump Mon Nov 05, 2007 01:01pm

The new jackets are ugly and they are extra hot. It's like wearing a winter coat.

Thanks to whoever made this executive decision.

Exactly, well minus the dolphins and pearls (yeah you caught me, I do have a mini but it's at the very bottom).

Plus, I've already got the lanyard on, just in case. :p

For me it is a simple equation. I like the quality of play and the paycheck I get for a college game, therefore I like the new college jacket. :D

Maybe, but I like Junker. I've worked with Junker. He's no Hackensacker.
