G'town missed the PLAYOFFS. They compete in the FCS. :)

I agree that the BCS is mess. It doesn't work. They know it doesn't work. Yet they still try to defend it and tell people that it works. It's very much like the bogus spew iRut posts.

But he goes on the SPCA and PETA registries for life, right? Can't live within 1000 yards of any pets?

Also doing well in another kind of football.

What a shame that the Rose Bowl was ruined by the selection of an out-manned Illinois team.

The game is out of reach at the start of the fourth quarter and a snoozer.

Georgia, Missouri, or even Florida would have made a much better sporting contest. It's truly a joke that the BCS regulations prevent the best teams from meeting in the top bowl games at the end of the year.:(

Concur - the "Grand Daddy of them All" has turned out to be "One of the Worst of Them All."

Michigan/Fla game was excellent!

I just want to know where all that SEC speed I kept hearing about was. I thought Michigan was not supposed to be able to stay on the field? If Michigan did not have 4 turnovers (2 within the Florida 1 yard line), the game would not have been close. And this was a home game for Florida as the game was in their back yard.

Peace

I'm not going to defend one conference vs another. All I'm saying is for pure entertainment value, Mich vs Fla was good fun.

rainmaker Tue Jan 01, 2008 08:53pm

Michigan/Florida was definitely worth watching.

Just notice, everyone, please, that both teams that won today, Michigan and USC, are teams that Oregon beat.

Just saying...

All of us in the SEC would like to say to the good people of Hawaii. Y'all have a safe trip home. A little late perhaps, but I mean that sincerely.:D

But for Appy State the better game would have been Michigan:D

Yeah, but that's not the current Oregon team. They couldn't hang with anyone without Dixon at QB.

There's a lot of criticism on tv about the bowl game match-ups, most notably, of course, sugar and rose bowls. This, like a lot of other things, is very easy to do, after the fact. From what I could gather yesterday, the fiesta bowl was, supposed to be a better game, with some concern about Oklahoma running away with it. Ah, experts.

BTW, Ohio State is 0-8 against the SEC in Bowl Games.

I heard on the radio yesterday that the Big 10 and SEC have played 22 games in the past 8 (I think) years.

The record? 11-11. With last night's game, it should be 12-11 in favor of the Big 10.

I think that the rap that the SEC is far superior to the Big 10 is the result of a couple recent and high-profile games. We'll see what happens to OSU.

Actually, it was both Dixon and Jonathan Stewart who were out. The bowl game (The Not-Really-All-That-Exciting-But-Better-Than-Nothing Bowl) that they won easily, Stewart was playing. I doubt they could have stayed at 2nd place without Dixon, but they might have done a lot better than they did if Stewart had stayed healthy.

And if the Canis familiaris had not paused to micturate it may have successfully apprehended the Leporidae.:D :D :D

Tim - every Canis familiaris I've ever owned micturated all the time. It's just nature taking it's course. And who wants any Leporidae anyway? They make lousy stew. :p

I don't believe that you would be in nearly as good of a mood this morning had VT's quarterback been able to throw the ball to players wearing the SAME color jersey as his. ;)

mkiogima Fri Jan 04, 2008 11:47am

Just out of curiosity why was Kansas wearing red jerseys last night? They were sporting the blue helmets but it looked strange with the red jerseys. Anyone know why?

Because these are their alternate jerseys and they like the look? That is my wild guess. :)

DonInKansas Sat Jan 05, 2008 06:24am

I'm not a big fan of the red jerseys. The ones the basketball team wears are horrendous.

Maybe KU's trying to be the Oregon Ducks of the Midwest?:)

I would not go quite that far. They have not gone all red or red pants and blue jersey. If anything, I have seen Indiana and Illinois do more of the Oregon thing than Kansas. This is about as radical as they have gotten with their jersey if memory serves me.

Peace
