Question from Missouri

Hey, I went to the Warrensburg Rule Meeting and I was wondering if you can help me understand some of the new rules.

1. If a illegal uniform is found, the starting 5 gets one t each. Any sub that enters, they will be hit with a T as well. Does this mean that each time the same sub comes in and then comes out gets a T?

Penalized one time for each starter and substitute as per NFHS 10-3-2PENALTY. Must be discovered before the ball becomes live.

See Situation #2 on the 2007-08 Interpretations on the FED web site.

The other night I worked a game where we started with 5 technical fouls due to illegal uniforms. Throughout the game there were 5 more due to subs with illegal uniforms. 10 technical fouls total. Rule clinic was less than a week ago, so Im not sure what the coach was doing?

If you are an official living in Missouri and you are issuing out Technicals for illegal uniforms you are WRONG!!!

The state have put out their guidance on how to handle the uniform issue.

So, you issue out all of the technicals so the head coach was ejected before the game got started right?

Say what?

Coach's aren't assessed technical fouls for player technical fouls unless they're bench technical fouls. These aren't. They're listed under rule 10-3.

Gotta know these perfectly......

Correct, I don't know what I was thinking at the time.

Evidently they didn't "put out their guidance" in Warrensburg! :D

Just curious, Truerookie. Is Missouri doing their own thing instead of following regular Fed protocol?

Bud, although correct by rule, the interpreter at your meeting apparently didn't get the memo from Columbia:

Truerookie is correct, the last sentence of point #3 sums it up...

Boo to Missouri. Since the rules on the style of the uniforms have not changed for years, why should the schools be allowed to purchase and wear illegal ones without penalty? :(

Isn't it impossible for a player technical to be a bench technical? This being the case since players on the bench, by definition, are not players at all but substitutes. Or is there some situation where the two may somehow overlap?

When do team members on the bench become players? Hint: 3-3

And as Jurassic pointed out, these technical fouls are listed under player technicals in section 3 of Rule 10, not substitute technicals (section 2) or bench technicals (section 4).
