The Best time of the Year is Drawing Near!

Association meetings, training, fresh brand new rule books (that doesn't stay new looking for long) < , scrimmages. I love this time of the year. The anticipation of my first games makes me feel like Duvall in Apocalypse Now when he said standing on that hill "I love the smell of napalm in the morning"!!

I was going to get some Napalm for this coming season, but I couldn't find it in all black.

I share your enthusiasm. There was a package in the mailbox last night, roughly the color and size one would expect for my basketball packet. I was disappointed when it was not, even though it was a video I had recently ordered and was looking forward to.

Anything from Sweeden you care to share with the rest of us?

I'm looking forward to getting started as well. I've told myself if I ever get to the point where I'm dreading the season starting, or begging for the season to end, then it's time for me to hang 'em up. Until then, I'm enjoying the time on the court.

I too am sharing your excitement especially since this is my first year with UIL schools. We started our Chapter training in mid September and will conclude at the end of October. We are just starting our scrimmages and it is a blast. I have now seen sub varsity, jv and varsity kids on the floor and I now understand what you folks have been saying regarding the differences in abilities, speed and overall knowledge of the game. AMAZING

Oh - you guys are talking about basketball. When I saw the thread title, I thought you were referring to my birthday next month.

This Sunday will be the time when a group of us go over the test together (open book so relax) and we talk about the new rules and other basketball issues. We do this every year and this is the official start of my basketball "pre-season."

I still get excited when the rules come in the mail because it lets me know we are not that far away. It almost feels like Christmas Eve. I love this time of year and football season does not do it for me because you hardly work on a consistent basis.

Peace

I am looking forward to starting as well. In fact, if I polish my shoes one more time I may not be able to lift them because of the added weight.

Our new official training started 3 weeks ago and runs through the end of November (one night a week). This is the first year I am helping (even though I wasn't asked) and now I am really eager.

Scrimmages start on the 27th for girls but that is also our State Meeting and we are the host chapter...probably will not be calling any of those. Girls regular season starts the 29th...boys one week behind them.

That Swedish porn DVD? Just make sure you don't get called for illegal use of hands. Oh yeah - watch out for those airborne shooters, too.

That's just not nice. We should be more accepting of those with obvious handicaps.
