Tell us, how does that make you feel?

Scrapper1 Fri Sep 21, 2007 08:36am

My UPS tracking number tells me that mine should arrive today. I'll let you know if mine has a logo.

Send it back, this is why we purchase the damn thing for the logo!!!;)

Scrapper1 Fri Sep 21, 2007 10:08am

OMG!!! It's HORRIBLE!!! It's hideous!!! It looks absolutely terrible. :(

My wife's appraisal after I screamed out the above: "It's not. . . the most attractive thing I've seen, but I wouldn't go all the way to 'hideous'."

On the plus side, mine has the CCA logo. On the minus side, the zipper is on the left side, like on a woman's jacket.

On the minus minus side, it looks absolutely horrible.

ROFLMAO!!

I got mine yesterday...it had the logo. It's ugly. I don't like it. My wife's appraisal was "Oh it's not that bad. It could be worse - they could make them pink for the Women's officials." Sigh...

yeah my zipper is on the left too, are they all like that?

bigwhistle Fri Sep 21, 2007 03:15pm

My zipper is on the left side too. Geesh, after getting this jacket, I think I should have retired :) . Not sure who was in on the design, but they should be fired (or made to work this year's schedule with OS)

I was told it was an NBA official, it it was Javie I'm gonna be crushed!!!!

Back In The Saddle Fri Sep 21, 2007 03:45pm

I heard it was Hank Nichol's brother-in-law, the one that's currently living in Hank's den while trying to start his own sporting goods company. This guy got a screaming deal on these "handsome, sporty jackets" (that fell off the back of a truck). They were on their way back to the manufacturer because the zippers were all installed backwards. Hank recognized the opportunity to reclaim his den, and jumped! ;)

mbyron Sat Sep 22, 2007 07:10am

If the jackets were made in China, that might explain it. The Chinese don't quite get our Western tradition (dating from the time when rich women had "dressers") of men's clothes fastening on the right.

And the logo will be painted on with lead-based paint.

bob jenkins Sat Sep 22, 2007 11:35am

It happened to me once that I had no logo and a zipper on the wrong side. It turned out that I had the jacket on inside out. Only took me three weeks to figure it out.

mbyron Sat Sep 22, 2007 07:25pm

That reminds me of the time someone in the forum locked his keys in his car. Took him nearly an hour to get his family out. :D

Just talked to Honig's and they said the zipper on the left side is by design. This is the way the jacket is coming from the official NCAA manufacturer, whoever that is. Nothing they can do about it. My jacket is padded on the inside, will be nice for cold gyms but definitely uncomfortable for hotter gyms. Did I misunderstand, is this new jacket is for NCAA Women's only?

Use that one when you do girls' or women's games.

If anyone is interested in an official rec league jacket, I'm selling them. They're only $1.00 including shipping. Just email me your name, address, date of birth, social security number, debit card and PIN number and I will donate part of the proceeds to a poor Nigerian prince. :o

Texas Aggie Thu Sep 27, 2007 11:28am

Why in the hell would they ever design something that draws attention to itself when we're supposed to be all about NOT drawing attention to ourselves?

This jacket is ludicrous and I hope they go back to the original one next year.

I seriously doubt this is going to change anytime soon. We really need to get used to it.

Secondly, I really do not understand why people still think we are not to be noticed. We are going to be noticed because everyone focuses on us anyway.

Peace

I've heard that's not effective in preventing, uhm, the side effects, of officiating.

We are in a YouTube, internet era. There are website dedicated to who works games and the records based on who is working. I really do not think many people do not notice the officials during the game. I have been in arenas where people started taunting them before the game started and these jackets were not worn yet. I think the jackets are not going to change the level of visibility that much. Just a guess on my part.

Peace

In case you didn't know, Jeff, I agree with you on this. :)

I think they're beyond ugly. But hey, I don't have to wear one. :D

I never said anything about "not being noticed." I phrased it as drawing attention to ourselves. There's a big difference and this has nothing to do with You Tube. Last year, we weren't going to be on You Tube due solely to the jacket we are wearing. This year, who knows.

I still do not see the big deal. The stripes are not as flattering, but I really do not think anyone cares. Certainly the jackets are not as noticeable as what the NBA wears and I am sure they get along with those ugly things as well.

Someone made a pitch that the CCA could adopt another style jacket and they agreed. Why did the NFL change? I am sure for the very same reason. Change happens. This is why they got rid of the collared shirts, the belted pants, even the color of the pants. Whatever the reason is it changed and we all have to deal with it. I personally do not care. Would I prefer the same jacket? Of course I would. It is not my decision to make.

rsox34 Tue Oct 23, 2007 04:40pm

The Manufacturer should cut dramatically cut the price because Zipper is...

...on the wrong side of the new jackets. Why didn't the NCAA/CCA make the manufacturer fix the jackets before selling them and rquiring officials to have them?

Texas Aggie Wed Feb 20, 2008 06:03pm

The rumors are flying this season will be the only one for the new jacket. Anyone heard the same?

Yes I did. And I heard it from a very reliable source. I did not want to post it until I have other information.

Mark Padgett Wed Feb 20, 2008 07:34pm

I got it figured out. These jackets are only for FEEBLE games and they have metric zippers. http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...ages/crazy.gif

26 Year Gap Wed Feb 20, 2008 10:54pm

Well, whatever they look like, they could not possibly be as ugly as Oregon Ducks' team warmup jackets.

okay - so I originally didn't look at this thread - but with no new discussions - I thought I would take a peek. The jacket is awful and I almost spit tea on my screen. Good luck to you guys that have to wear it. I will have to pass this along and some of the guys in my assoc have been going crazy that we had to get a new KHSAA patch to replace old style version.
