CCA Jacket

Just received my CCA jacket from Honigs today.

My wife thinks it's hideous.

It's not the best looking jacket in the world but I don't think it's that bad either.

But it doesn't matter, I'm just ecstatic that I needed to get one for this year.

Way to go!

I feel the same way - I'd wear a pink tutu if it meant the chance to call NCAA games.

I understand that the NCAA is considering making Women's Ballet a sanctioned sport. If this happens, they'll need referees and your pink tutu wish could become a reality. :D

BTW, wasn't that a pink tutu that Larks is wearing in his picture?

I'm just impressed that you used "hideous" and "ecstatic" in the same post - and you used them both properly and spelled them both correctly! A class act from start to finish. Great job.

Wives are funny that way. Mine is a bit of a shoe and sock fashion nazi. She's never liked white or black crew-length socks with black shorts for basketball. So I've adopted black ankle length to keep in her good graces. Well, actually I agree with her about that. When I told her the volleyball uniform is blue slacks with white shoes and socks, I was the victim of another fashion nazi tsunami.

I think I need to stop talking to her about official's gear entirely. :D

You could drop those last four words from your statement.

This merely proves that eyezen <> Old School.

For those of you who haven't seen it, here's a link to view the jacket.

Looks like an umpire jacket to me.

She would suggest dropping the first two words from my statement as being patently untrue. ;)

i can see why someone suggest putting a pink tutu on it. It couldn't look much worse!

Um, thanks, I think. But it worries me that I was even in the running. :)

I've never seen an umpire's jacket up close so they may be the same way, but the first thing that struck me was, and this wasn't apparent from the pic in the catalog, that the shoulder stripes are of the same stretchy material as the cuffs.

Anyone else get there jacket from Honigs?

I am a college student who got into college basketball this year and is wondering if I should head back home to pick it up?

Juulie - here's the new uniform Bruce is recommending for us this season. What do you think of it?

This is crazy! Just when I was about to post to this thread someone ran over and destroyed my mailbox! Fortunately, he didn't hit anything else.

Anyway, I got my jacket today too. It is ugly and heavier than the old one.

While I appreciate your enthusiasm I cannot share your sentiment! :)

And I swear I had to look ten times to make sure that this wasn't posted by Padgett!!

You are a college student, and you is wondering?

And your sentence isn't a question, but it ends with a question mark?

I'm just going to ignore the errors in the first sentence. *sigh*

I've been trying to decide if you're being secretly metaphorical. If you were, I guess you wouldn't say.

You should check with your assigner / conference commissioner. I think the jacket is only required for D-1, and that most D-2 and D-3 conferences are either making it optional or requiring the "old" jacket.

tomegun Thu Sep 20, 2007 05:22pm

Bob, this is the first time I've heard this. The new jacket is supposed to be used for college period.

Mbyron, I was being serious as a heart attack. A kid was driving a Grand Cherokee and destoyed my mailbox. He only had a permit and his brothers were in the car with him. He got a list of citations, but I wanted him cuffed. His mom is going to have our mailbox replaced with a new brick one.

And did he also run "the stop sign"? :D

That's just wrong, making fun of a man's pain like that.

It took me two seconds, but I got it. Nice one.

Shall I start a stop sign thread? :D

Back In The Saddle Fri Sep 21, 2007 09:36am

We had a similar thing happen a few years back. But it was a cement truck that ran over ours. Sounds like you got a better deal. The construction company only ponied up for a cheapie mailbox and a rubbermaid breakaway post to put it on. I guess they figured they might not be done running over my mailbox or something.

Nope...the NCAA came out and said that the jackets are only required at D-I level...all other levels, the officials will "match"...either all wear the old jacket, all wear the new jacket, or all wear no jackets.

It would be nice if they'd post this on eofficials, though.
