This past weekend I worked a middle school rec tournament. On Sunday, I worked 5 games, 3 of them with a guy who has barely ever said anything to a coach in the five years I have known him - until now.
With just a few minutes left in the game, the score was 54-14. A player on the losing team went in for a layup and just barely got bumped. I was trail. My friend, at lead, made what I thought was a correct no-call. As he subsequently went past the losing bench, the coach (who had been chipping all game) yelled at him, "C'mon, you've got to help me out here." My partner replied, "Any more whining and I'll help you out OF here!" Will wonders never cease? |
i would say to the coach, " there will be no help when your player misses a LAYUP, not today. i wont bail him out."

Shoulda just told him that he needs a lot more help than just a phantom foul call!
