That's rainmaker, not rainwoman.

Rainwoman is fine. Rainman would have gotten me 5-15.

The eval went great. I had a good partner, which always helps, and the game itself was pretty easy to work, since the girls were not too fast. It was a fairly close game, though, so I didn't have a chance to let down my guard and have some weird thing happen. My evaluator talked to me at half-time, and then sent me a copy of the paper he turned in. All the evals I have had this year have been very psitive, but I'm going to get two or three more, if possible, to clinch that little reward, Varsity Certification. I'm also going to recap last summer's frantic pace, and go tto two or three camps, and work several summerand fall leagues, so that I can really attack next year's season and justify everyone's faith in me.

Someone out there may want to ask, what is the secret to such zooming success? My answer is lots of hard work and two X-chromosomes.

Geeesh, I was with you til that "two x-chromosome" comment. :D

Seriously, Nice Job rainmaker! You have earned it.:)

Good job, Juulie and congrats. For those of you outside the Portland area (and there probably are a few of you unfortunate to live somewhere else), let me tell you that in my 22 seasons of officiating, I can't recall anyone who is dedicated to working harder to improve than Juulie.

She is never afraid to ask even a simple question, and is always looking for feedback even if that feedback is negative. She realizes that's the best way to learn.

Now, if I can only get her to change her "pushing" mechanic, she'll be perfect. :)

Y Jewel,
Maybe you are one of those XXX-ers.
I think the term used to be "super female".

Oh, it's not a big thing and Juulie knows I wouldn't tease her about anything if I didn't like her (at least, that's what they train us to say in bullsh*t school).

I've mentioned it in passing once or twice that, like other refs I work with, the pushing mechanic seems to be directed somewhat downward toward the court as opposed to outward. That's OK if the player was pushed to the floor, I suppose. :)

OK, Juulie - it's your turn to point out my shortcomings. If I dish it out, I'd better learn to take it. ;)

Mark,
I've used that.
"Okay, kids; keep it down, I'm on the phone."
Cute.

Mark --

I've internalized a lot of good criticism from you, but this one never got past the stapes, I guess. I don't remember any teasing about it at all. I've got to admit, it's been the least of my worries.

I can't think of any criticism to level in return -- and even if I could, I'd be afraid of the snappy comebacks!

Thanks for the compliment. I've never been a hard work kind of gal, I've got low blood pressure, and a type-C personality. So I take your remark about working hard as the best thing anyone could say. It ought to get me through the rest of the season.

Hey willie, does this sound like anyone we know? the pushing mechanic down to the ground. :) I think it is ok if the foul is on the ground, it works good then.

YEP

One official I am thinking of ... You would swear he witnessed a player doing push-ups on the court. :D
