During E. Gordon Gee's first tenure as President of The Ohio State University and John Cooper ( ) was Head Football Coach at The Ohio State University, there was one OSU-UM game where the Buckeyes came from behind in the last quarter to tie the game (this was before the NCAA instituted rules for overtime games) and Gee called it the greatest victory in OSU football history. I think that Appalachian State's victory over UM this past Saturday replaces that previous game as the greatest victory in OSU football history :D .

Go OSU Buckeyes and YSU Penguins.

Aren't you the guy who said his two favorite teams are Ohio State and whoever is playing Michigan this week? ;)

Obviously I have missed something. What is this pageant that keeps coming up?

If you do a Google search, you will also see she was on Good Morning America the next day explaining her answer.

I don't have to confine myself to pulling for just one team. Anytime an ACC team plays a team outside the conference, I pull for them, no matter the sport. Anytime an NC school plays someone outside the state, I pull for them, especially when there's such a decided underdog.

I'll leave you alone before you cry. http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...ges/crying.gif

I pull for FSU and we have owned North Carolina for years. Playing North Carolina and Duke are automatics every year. I had a cousin that played for FSU and a cousin that played for Florida, I never cheer for the University of Florida, even when he was there.

Anytime an Illinois or Michigan school plays teams outside of state, I do not pull for them. Then again those states are not the kinds that marry their relatives either. Oh well. ;)

Peace

One thing being a Cubs fan has taught me: humility. I still root for them, no matter how it ends up. I'm enjoying this season, because there are meaningful games being played in Sept. But I'm as nervous as a cat in a rocking chair factory, because I know nothing is definite yet. If they win, it will be great. If they lose, I'll take the abuse. (God knows I'm used to that...) The Cardinals have proven that the best team doesn't always win the World Series. The Cardinals have lost more World Series than the Cubs. What does that prove, exactly?

That the Cardinals have been to more World Series than the Cubs? :D

If you're going to openly root for a team, you better be prepared to take the abuse when they lose.[/QUOTE]

Are you sure about that one? All Cubs fans have been saying since last year that the Cardinals did not deserve to win the World Series. That might be true, but they won the division (and still might this year) last year and performed when it counted. The Cubs might not even make the post season if they cannot beat the Dodgers and most of the team is healthy. You even have Woody back.

To an unranked, unknown, Div. 1-AA team.

In a game many are calling the greatest upset ever. (...snicker...)

For your information, they are ranked. They won the last 2 Div. 1-AA Championships and it was a big upset in the Big House. Do not let the facts get in the way of being a Cubs fan. Next thing you are going to tell me the U of I has one a national championship in basketball too. :D

Indians sweep Twins (again).

7.5 game lead over Detroit (8 if the Tigers lose again tonight).

15-4 since 8/15.

We're in a good place. :)

I don't know about "all Cub fans"; all I said was the best team did not win the World Series. I base this on the fact that the Cardinals won 83 games in the regular season, which is the lowest regular-season win total ever for a World Series winner. They were also 8-11 vs. the Cubs last year, and the Cubs were in last place in the division. They did, however, get hot at the right time and win the games necessary in the post-season. That doesn't make them the "best team".

No Appl. State is not ranked in the same rankings available to Michigan; they cannot be ranked, because they are too small a school. Likewise, Michigan cannot be ranked in the same rankings as Appl. State. Apples and kumquats.

Using your logic, the U of I has been in way more championship games this century than the U of M. They have also been in the tournament more times. But, I believe as a wise man once said, "Don't let the facts get in the way of being a Wolverine fan." :p

I'll tell you about "all Cub fans". They're dumb enough to stick with a team that traded away Lou Brock for Ernie Broglio. :o

Sorry, I'm not old enough to know those guys. :p

But, in looking at my history book, Ernie Broglio was a decent pitcher at the time. In 1960, he was 3rd in the Cy Young voting, and 9th in the NL MVP voting, ahead of such names as Eddie Matthews, Warren Spahn, Hank Aaron, Stan Musial, Maury Wills, and Frank Robinson. Even as late as '63 he was 18-8 with a 2.99 ERA. And, at the time of the trade, the most bases Lou Brock ever stole in a season was 24.

Hindsight is always 20-20.

Just ask the guy that added Appalachian State on the Michigan schedule.

They do not give trophies for who the best team is. They give trophies and banners for who actually won. I will take the "The Cardinals were not the best team..." all day. Did I mention that in my life time the Cardinals have been to the World Series 5 times and won twice? :D Can you say the same? :D

I do not care about tournaments, I care about Championships. To be ranked #1 in a bracket or get to the Final Four and come up with no hardware means little to a school that has actually won a championship. Then again it was sweet that Michigan beat the Flying Illini on the way to a national championship. :D

Also it feels great to be associated with the school that everyone hates because the school is successful. After all this is what sports is about right? Talking about your teams and how the other team stinks. I am not going to just take it; I am going to give it back to you. That is what I do in these situations. :D

Peace

Ok, how many Big Ten Championships has Michigan won in basketball this century? (Hint: 0) How many has the U of I won? (Hint: 3 regular season titles and 2 conference tournament titles)

Absolutely. But, you still have to learn how to take it when you need to. I've had practice.

How many Big Ten Titles has Illinois won in football? I did not even know they had football program. :D And fans at Michigan know better to attend games of a program that is a sinking ship. The Cubs keep jacking up prices, scalp their own tickets and like a dumb sheep you silly fans keep going to games. And you have not been to a single World Series in a century. And this year you will not make the playoffs again. :D

I thought I'd chime-in for fun . . . did anyone notice that North Carolina won this weekend? They defeated 1-AA James Madison 37-14. Guess Butch Davis is better than we thought, huh? Now Duke did lose, but they played a team from the Big East so what do you expect?:D

I'm wondering if Michigan will now come and try to get our football coach too? I've already heard his name mentioned . . . sheeeeeesh! The joke going around WV is that Lloyd Carr was using John Beilein's man-to-man defense!!!!:p
