This is something ive never seen before and never thought of until i saw it. A team is inbounding the ball against a press. The inbounder throws a length of the court inbounds pass that actually goes in the basket, somebody from his own team grabs it out of the net and puts it in again. Should this count? What is the proper ruling?

Rule 9.2.7 it is a violation for a throw in to enter the basket before being touched by another player.

The basket does not count for it has to touch or be touched by another player. The opposing team gets the ball at the spot of the violation.

This is true, of course, but it should be pointed out that the spot of the violation is the throw-in spot not underneath the basket that the ball entered.

Just in case we have any newbies out there...
