Substitution for an injured player...and there are no substitutes

The earlier thread reminded me of a game I was watching yesterday. Boy's 8th Grade. Team A had only 5 players. A1 gets fouled while shooting and goes down. Coach is beckened on to the court, player gets up and shoots his free throws. I was wondering though...who shoots them if he was unable to continue? One of the four players left on the floor?

And don't let the opposing coach tell you he gets to pick the shooter.

Does team A have to take a timeout to keep A1 in the game?

Instead of taking a TO, can they play with four and bring A1 back in on the first substitution opportunity after the clock has run? Or maybe after the first FT is over?

If the coach was beckened yes, they need to take a TO for A1 to shoot his FTs.

If A1 leaves because of injury and there is no sub, yes they may play with 4, and A1 can't return until the next opportunity to sub after the clock has started and stopped.

Anybody disagree with that?

I believe I do.

If a team calls a timeout right after an injury, I do not believe the player has to wait for any time to run off the clock and the next opportunity to come back in the game. The rule was changed to allow the player to stay in the game and the team to use a timeout to do so. Obviously the player was not subbed in for at this time.

Peace

You want to re-read what I wrote?

A1 is fouled, gets hurt, coach is beckoned.

At this point A1 must leave or team A must use a TO.

If they don't call a TO, one of their remaining 4 players shoots the FTs and they play 4 on 5 until the next substitution opportunity after time has run.

That's what I wrote...both times.

You really need to stop being so sensitive when someone responds to your posts.

It sounds like to me that you were saying that if they call a timeout that they had to wait. This post clarifies that is not exactly what you meant. It was just confusing that that is all and you clarified it.

I also did not read the first comment, I read the second comment. Take some downers and calm down. It will be OK.

Peace

Dude, it was so COMPLETELY CLEAR that I'm sure Old School got it...not surprised you didn't.

How can the words, "If the coach is beckoned they need to call a TO for A1 to shoot his FTs," followed by, "IF A1 leaves he must wait," be confused with he has to wait if they call a TO?

I don't disagree. BUT Old School hasn't chimed in with his two cents.
