Gentlemen and ladies:

I am not an official. I am a radio play-by-play announcer. I work a lot of high school games, and believe me, some the locations that I have to broadcast from in high school gyms are pretty bad. I can't always get a good look at the official as he/she is indicating to the official scorekeeper who the foul is on. Thus, sometimes, my tally of the fouls does not match-up with that of the official scorekeeper.

My question is this: What ever happened to the rule that the player who committed the foul had to raise his hand? That was the rule when I first started watching basketball when I was a kid, but it seems to have gone by the wayside. I wish they would bring it back.
