I was working a game between two teams where neither team had enough talent to even play dead. During one of many futile attempts by a guard to breathe and dribble at the same time, she steps on the foot of a defender and goes face first to the floor.

My partner comes up with a travel, which was the correct call. As the player rolls over after the play, the floor and the player are covered with blood, as it was a direct hit by the nose onto the floor.

My partner calmly walks over to me while the player is being attended to. "Bloodiest travelling call that I have ever had!" :D

At least he didn't ask her, "Did you enjoy your trip?" :D

I just RED your comments
and I hate to be NOSY,
but did the player FLOOR him?
Maybe the call should have been travelling
since the blood was RUNNING onto the court.
I rate the call a B+ (blood type).

Why was this a travel? If the player was dribbling, it should have been a no-call (at least on the violation -- it could have been a foul).

We'll give bigwhistle the benefit of the doubt and assume that the player was holding the ball--not dribbling--during the entire journey from feet to floor. :)

Not to Tacky

You got to have a little fun when you are officiating, there is humor in almost everything. Granted the girl was bloody, but nose bleeds always look worse than they are and if that is the worst thing that happens to her she has it made. Besides, it'll be gone by the time she gets married. Funny comment, I would have chuckled. (I still would have felt sorry for her as well)
