Well, my son has finally done it - gone to the dark side of the force. He attended his first basketball referee class last night and will start with rec ball in January. I am seeing my lawyer today to have my will revised before he steps on the court :D

At least there will be one "right" person in your household
HAWKS:
Your son is embarking on an adventure that is going to offer him the opportunity to discover and develop many skills. Skills that will make him a better, more successful person in whatever career field he opts to pursue as an adult. Best wishes to him (and you) in his new endeavor. |

forget about calling your attorney, call your psychiatrist! Actually, I see a counselor and when he puts things in basketball perspective, they are easier to understand.

Aw, it's just that rebellion thing.
Send him by. mick |
Make sure you tell him about this board!
Good luck to him! |
After a while, let me know if it's as hard to sit in the stands and watch your son ref as it was for me to sit and watch my daughter play!

Hey Hawks - love your posts as I'm a fellow coach as well as being a ref. My son is 2 1/2, and he's not sure where coaching stops and reffing starts (or vice-versa). He runs around the house with a whistle yelling "block out," then calling fouls. (Oh yeah, to make matters worse, my wife is a coach as well.) I'm waiting for DCFS to come by and charge us with "malicious moral ambiguity...." (By the way, if anybody has tips on how to get a 2 1/2 year-old to get his fist up to stop the clock before bird-dogging, please email me privately.) [Edited by JoeT on Dec 14th, 2001 at 11:01 AM] |
