hey guys, i have a quick question. this has been puzzling me for a while:)

Where do you draw the line on what a person can and cannot say, people have told me that if it gets personal and everything, but where do you draw it. this forum is full of good advice and hopefully i can get some good insight, thanks

It's really difficult to address all of the possibilities but here are a few basic guidelines.

I allow a coach to...

...complain about a call or no call.
...ask a question about a call or no call.
...address me in a manner in which he would like to be addressed.

I don't allow a coach to...

...question my or my partners' intergrity.
...become personal, or yell at me.
...use profanity or vulgarity.

I think those are good lines to draw, and keeps the carping within reason.

Although you see Tony's reasoning and dividing lines, the key is figuring out for yourself when his first two no-nos have been violated. You can see some good discussions in several earlier threads (not too terribly old either) where it is clear that those distinctions are different for everyone. Just make sure you know what your distinctions are so that you can make your call (or no-call) with confidence.

Ever seen the Godfather with the fish in the newspaper? when the carping gets to that level, call for back-up :)
