After a made basket, from the endline, B1 inbounds the ball OVER the rectangular Basket. The ball does not contact any of the "hardware". Is it legal?

NO!! The ball is dead once it passes over the backboard whether it comes from infront or behind the basket. Case Book 7.1.2 Sit.A

According to the casebook, if a "fan-shaped" backboard is being used, the ball remains live. It is dead if a rectangular backboard is used. Does anyone still use a "fan-shaped" backboard?

Fan shaped?

We have some old gyms with old equipment in our area, some of them in middle schools. So amazingly, we still have some fan shaped backboards - but not many! None for HS level.
