Horizon semi-final officials

Checking out the box scores and I noticed that a Lamont Simpson worked the Loyola/Butler game and Lamar Simpson worked Wisc-GB/Wright St. Are these 2 brothers? (and no, I'm not asking if they are black :D )

Also see the old Atlanta Braves catcher, Bruce Benedict, is working in the Horizon.

No. They are not related.

And if we start talking about whether or not they're black, this thread will most likely be deleted.

Well, I think based on previous posts last year about NCAA tourney officials that one of these officials is a personal friend of JRut's. So that would mean that this is official is...wait for it...here it comes............one official is a MIDWEST official. :p

I do know Lamar Simpson personally. We live in the same area and I have worked with him several times over the years.

Peace

So, is he one of those officials that you say, if you work with, you rarely get to work with another official of that same color?

I have tried to give you credit for being an intelligent person. I can see now I was totally wrong.

Peace

WhistlesAndStripes Mon Mar 05, 2007 01:39pm

What makes you say that?

JugglingReferee Mon Mar 05, 2007 03:23pm

What took you so long???

JRutledge Mon Mar 05, 2007 03:38pm

Considering I do not know most people and you only get a slice of what a person is about (a very small slice at that) I wanted to think this person had some sense. It is clear he has totally clear with all the recent posts he has made he has no intelligence what so ever. I do not understand why this person still has an account anymore. I will leave it at that.

Peace

OK, Let me get the popcorn, and then let's begin this discussion in earnest
http://www.longhorncouncil.org/popcorn/kernals.gifhttp://www.longhorncouncil.org/popcorn/kernals.gifhttp://www.longhorncouncil.org/popcorn/kernals.gifhttp://www.longhorncouncil.org/popcorn/kernals.gifhttp://www.longhorncouncil.org/popcorn/kernals.gifhttp://www.longhorncouncil.org/popcorn/kernals.gifhttp://www.longhorncouncil.org/popcorn/kernals.gifhttp://www.longhorncouncil.org/popcorn/kernals.gif

Now, what I want to know is, why is it that when someone who is black, aka Jrutledge, decided to interject race or some other social agenda into a discussion, it's OK, but when someone white like me does it, it gets shut down.

I think it's high time we had an honest, open discussion about this. No name calling or anything like that, let's just discuss it. I'd even be happy to have this discussion in the general forum if the powers that be deem that to be a more appropriate place for it, but really, why can't we discuss race in this forum, at least as it relates to officiating?

Mick, bob, brad, how bout letting us discuss this for awhile.

I thought all officials were black and white. (Unless wearing the greys)

Funny you should say that. We tend to wear the grays where I'm at, although not 100% of the time.
