If you don't have an account, open one for free.

Then, create an entry. If you'll use your forum user name, it'll be easier to know who everyone is.

The group name is Officials Forum.

The password is howler.

Thanks for setting up, BBR. There's only one way it could have been better: the password being Diebler! :D

Although this comes from a betting website, I'm only posting this because they have posted the brackets for many conference tournaments. I thought that some might find the brackets useful.

Mux,

I just had that problem as well. I opened ESPN.com in a different window and started from the begining. Worked just fine. Don't know what's going on.

I wonder if you've blocked cookies from the site that hosts the online tournament.

JugglingReferee Thu Mar 08, 2007 12:05pm

We gotta get a live chat function going, kinda like what is at refstripes.com.

The fb refs were on it during the bowl games. It was a great time, especially during the Boise State game.

Hey guys, please limit yourself to ONE entry in our group. There's a limit to the number of entries allowed in a group. We want everyone to be able to get in if possible. Your entry will still be counted by ESPN, even if you don't join a group.

Along these lines....I teach 5th graders. Every day we start with a "word of the day" to help build vocabulary. Today's word was Bracketology and following that we spent about 15 minutes explaining how to make picks. I do this every year with my kids. Some years they get more into it than others. I guess I enjoy it and that's all that really counts. Just like on the court, it's all about me. :D

Last minute entry from me.

I'll be in the lower half of the bracket, I'm sure. My wife joined one at work and she picked all the higher seeds in the first 3 rounds. Safe strategy that doesn't interest me (since there's no real money involved).

If Texas A&M holds on, I'll be 7 for 7. :)

That's my best start ever! I've never gone perfect for the first day. Actually, I've never gone perfect for the first eight games in the morning session.

I have Vandy over GW for number 8.

So you're 8 for 8, with all higher seeds winning.

My wife, who knows NOTHING about basketball, is also 8-for-8.

Of course, she says I'm just jealous cause I'm 6-2 (I picked ODU and Texas Tech).

Adam Thu Mar 15, 2007 06:17pm

This could be my worst year ever. I'm holding down the floor all by myself.
I'm 4 for 8 and I've lost two sweet 16 teams and an Elite 8 team. Texas is my only hope for a decent bracket. Hook 'em Horns!

WhistlesAndStripes Thu Mar 15, 2007 06:21pm

Might not care but I will mention anyways.

The company I work for is called Harris Corporation. This is the same Harris that has a plug at the beginning of each tournament game, and many RS games as well.

In fact, my job is to design new graphics systems used in the television industry.

So... basically there's a very high chance that some of the hardware that is being used to televise the broadcast was designed by yours truly. :)

Keep in mind that a broadcast is very intense and much equipment is found in the broadcast path.

Virginia Commonwealth's Eric Maynor grew up in Fayetteville, N.C., wanting to play for the North Carolina Tar Heels. Thursday, he beat their biggest rival with 22 points, six in the last 1:21.

As I told the chatroom group last night, he was a 4 year starter in HS that I worked throughout his career. Good kid, always kept something going on the court. Glad to see him doing well. His picture is on the front page of a lot of sports sections today.

Stephen Curry, the freshman from Davidson, was practically begging to get into Virginia Tech, his dad's (Dell) school. They showed no interest. So he goes to Davidson, leads the Southern Conference in scoring as a freshman, then drops 30 points on an ACC power (Maryland) in the NCAA tournament.

Good grief, I only picked 25 right in the first round, the easiest first round I can remember. My wife picked 28 right.

Both of us have all possible points still on the table as all of our bad picks were picked to disappear in the second round. I'm sure many people are in the same position.

Adam Sat Mar 17, 2007 12:45am

As bad as my first round has been, I'm not sitting too poorly for the next few rounds. I've only lost about 3 Sweet Sixteen picks and one Elite 8. This is by far my worst first round in memory. Just a bad year, I guess.

I guess I shouldn't feel so bad. 14/16 yesterday wasn't bad, but I still can't get over the lousy 11/16 on Thursday or maybe it's the fact my wife got 14/16 BOTH days.

And the 4 picks she lost on weren't bad picks, either. Maybe I need to stop following college hoops.

Don't do it, Rich. Take one year off, and you end up 21/32 in the first round.

...(wheez)...air...thin...way up here...hard to...breath...

Wow, the last time I looked up and saw no one ahead of me, I had entered the NCAA pool in July. I was able to stay in front for quite a few months...

:)

Enjoy the view.
Kansas and Wisconsin do not have three more games. ;)

I plan on it, at least for another hour or two.

I kinda feel like the kid who accidentally slipped into the Playboy Mansion. I know I'm not supposed to be here, but I'll enjoy the view until someone rightfully kicks me out. ;)

I suck!!! None of my upsets happened, some I thought about but didn't pick did happen, and I suck. Oregon is my only hope for redemption.

ncaabbref Sun Mar 18, 2007 07:36pm

Well I haven't picked any of the upsets, and Duke and Wisconsin really let me down...geez, I wonder why I am in last place???

Winthrop killed me too, I had them going out first round, and I doubt too many people outside of a few had Duke going bye bye first round..

Adam Sun Mar 18, 2007 11:23pm

Well, thanks to Tim Floyd, methinks Snaqwells is officially done this year.

Although I have climbed the ranks to 70th. Woo Hoo!

Is now a good time to note that I'm in 1st place in our group and 779th overall with 560 points. :D

I somehow managed to hit 14 of the Sweet 16 and ALL of my Elite Eight teams are still alive. Thus I have the maximum amount of possible points remaining.

My best pick this tournament is a tie between selecting UNLV to beat Wisconsin in the 2nd round and using my head instead of my heart in picking Nevada to lose to Memphis. Of course taking Winthrop and VCU in the first round wasn't bad either.

Rich Mon Mar 19, 2007 08:25am

My wife learned that you can't win it the first weekend, but you sure can lose.

She had Wisconsin and Texas in the Final Four.

Just goes to show that knowing basketball counts for something once in a while. I knew Wisconsin wouldn't get that far after the Butch injury, but I did think they'd get by UNLV/Georgia Tech.

I've lost 2 Elite 8 teams, so I know I have no hope of winning, but if things fall into place I could still finish pretty high in the group.

And screw the brackets, I'm just rooting for Tennessee (my first graduate school) now.

Ya, Nevada, you sure are kicking some tail. I'll give myself a pat on the back too for picking UNLV over Wisconsin. I'm just hoping that luck parlays into getting the Ducks into the Final Four. You gotta pick an upset into the Final Four most years to have a shot at winning it all. My only worry is that this year has been very unconventional from the upset standpoint. No double-digit seeds in the Sweet 16. I hope that trend ends this weekend.

Oh, and me picking Maryland and Texas to the Elite 8 hasn't helped, either. Go USC/Butler!!
