Lightbulb Something to ponder...

When you are a young official, it behooves you to take notes on EVERY official you work with. Note the good ones, the bad ones, the ones who mesh with you, the ones who don't, etc. This way, you'll know what to expect and how to evaluate your own game. You'll also find out who you work best with...do you work best with a "rules" partner, an enforcer, a "let 'em play" partner, a tight partner, etc. Note EVERYONE you can!

This is my fourth year...I have notes on EVERY official I've ever worked with that is in my association. I know who the good ones are...and I know who I don't click with...and I know what their goals are.

Now, while I'm working my behind off to get into the state tournament, I know who to call on to go to that new gym or to call a game in front of that new coach that may or may not break my getting into the tournament.

To me, it's all about finding someone who is a great compliment AND contrast to your own style!
