Goaltending durnig throw-in?
(A) has a throw-in, sideline, free throw line extended. Ball is throw in the direction of basket an is untouched until it gets above basket in the imaginary cylinder by (B). Is there a case play for this? This happened in a men's comp league I was playing in. The ref awarded 3 points since it was outside the 3 point line. This has to be wrong since there is no team control on the throw-in. So is it 2 points, or none an a violation.

It's not goaltending, it's basket interference.
It isn't a try, so 3 points can't be awarded. |
Goaltending can only occur on a try or tap.
Basket interference can occur during a throw-in. It results in two points if the violation is by the defense. |
found it 9.11.2 sit c. thanks for the help
