Players with Tatoo's

With more kids having tatoo's what is proper?
Is a cross and skull ok?
Is an american flag ok?
If the game officials think that a tatoo is bringing attention to the player should we have them cover it? Does anyone think that the National High School Federation will address this issue in the off season. I think it will be a problem in the future!!!

NFHS has nothing against tattoos. Some states regulate these. Check with your state governing body.

According to the NF everything is OK. We are not go get involved in what kinds of ink a kid puts on their body.

BTW, the NF addressed this issue years ago with a rule, then the following year got rid of it. This should tell you all you need to know.

Peace

Not sure that an "F-bomb" tattoo would be appropriate...

I am not looking at tattoos that closely in the first place. That is for the school and coach to worry about.

Peace

NFHS Tatoos Point Of Emphasis

1996-97 NFHS Basketball Rule Book, page 70, Points of Emphasis: Permanent tattoos pose problems if they are objectionable for one reason or another. School administrators and/or coaches have an obligation to have objectionable markings of a permanent type covered. It is not in the best interest of the game to have officials placed in a position where from game to game they must rule on what is objectionable. Obviously, officials can and will make these decisions when outright vulgarity or obsenity is involved or when such markings violate sportmanship and/or taunting or baiting regulations.

I don't recall if this Point of Emphasis was changed in any way in later Rule Book editions
