j51969 The announcer said the ref didn't see it. I think he and deemed it a good screen. Really close could go either way.
Terrapins Fan I have no problem with it....the ref was right on top of it, how can the announcer say " the refs didn't see it" ????
deecee " see two steps by the defense after the player sets the screen so legal contact." does that apply in this instance?
SeanFitzRef Last angle at the end shows the screener adjusting her position to force the contact. This one is all about angles. From the last angle it looks illegal. First viewing looked clean.
Terrapins Fan Just from memory, The rule is time and distance on a player without the ball, screened from behind. This is from the side. The offensive player could have seen her if she were looking or if a team mate had called out the pick.
Terrapins Fan I am saying it's a good screen. You have the benefit of a reply, at game speed, good screen.

Smitty Dan_ref wroteI agree. Last view was the one that did it for me, which should have been the T's view. Me too. The first angle it looks like she was moving toward the defender. The last angle looks like she was still moving laterally. Illegal screen.

Screener slides over at the last second to adjust to position of the defender and forces the contact. That eliminates the time and distance factor because it is no longer there.
zebraman SeanFitzRef wroteLegal screen or not? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKYpw9JEFLo Not legal. The screener was clearly moving sideways and forwards from all the angles I saw. That's a "gotta get."
Jurassic Referee Terrapins Fan wroteThen site the rule.Rule 10-6-3. Whether the player being screened could see the screen if she was looking or whether a teammate called out the screen is irrelevant to the call, no matter where the scree is set.
cmathews first look looked legal, slow it down I change my mind.....however if I were the official there I would probably lean towards legal as well....
deecee even in super slo-mo we are nitpicking the one setting the pick leaning about an inch or so -- the rule book says completly still YES I know -- but in real world application that minute lean wont be noticed without super-slo mo and it doesnt change the fact that the screen was legal and the defender was going to get creamed.
