Cover me I am not 100%

After finishing a jv/soph game I was listening to the varsity crew's pregame. Normal stuff but just before they left the lockerroom to take the court one of the officials said "You know I'm not a 100%, so on a break and I'm the C the trail has to haul azz to cover me".

His partners had a shocked look at fist and then agreed.

This was a varsity boys game between the #2 and #5 team in the state (bigest schools).

My point is not to rag on the guy, but to point out to all of us that if your not physically able to cover your court responsibilities- get a replacement. As officials we are not bigger than the game. Just taking 800 mg of an NSAID is not enough.

Good God, I could get from C to C with my (current) half-a-knee.

If I were him I'd worry more about going T to L (of course, he probably stood with his heels on the division line and took off in the other direction once the shot was in the air).
