Why pregame dunking isn't allowed

Any more questions about why pregame dunking isn't allowed?

Memphis @ UAB is being delayed right now because of this. I'm shocked that a T hasn't been issued.

BTW my crew had to issue a T for a pregame dunk last night.

Did it ever occur to you that the officials were not present?

Peace

I didnnt look like a delay because of pregame dunking. I seen a tip off to start the game. I agree with JR.

what happened?

Reese Davis just reported the game was delayed by 1/2 hr because of a "Disloged basket".

Equipment damage is only one reason, and down the list at that, that pregame dunking is not allowed. Higher reasons include injury and the chance that dunking exhibitions will turn into taunt-fests.

FWIW, pregame dunking is allowed by NCAA women's rules.

I bow down to the original poster. I am wrong.

Even if that is the case, the officials cannot penalize something when they did not witness it. For all we know it might not have had anything to do with a dunk in any way (unless that was reported).

Peace

Hunt's 30 points power Memphis to 12th straight win
Associated Press

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Jeremy Hunt's hot shooting and a smothering defensive effort gave Memphis a comfortable victory.

Hunt scored a career-high 30 points, including 25 and some long 3-pointers before halftime, and the Tigers (No. 10 ESPN/USA Today, No. 8 AP) limited UAB to 31 percent shooting in a 70-56 victory Thursday night.

...

The game's start was delayed about 30 minutes when one of the baskets had to be repaired after a Memphis player dunked during pregame warmups.

did you also see the official give Memphis coach the hand on a call made in 1st half? the coach sat right down....It stated " stop in the name of official" Before I "T" you up....

Good to hear there was a nationally televised stop sign. ;)

It was mentioned in the other thread, but Coach K got a really good one on Wednesday night. I think he was tempted to drive through it, but he resisted.

Hey, stop highjacking my thread! Take your stop signs over tomegun. :D

tomegun Fri Feb 09, 2007 05:02pm

Oh yeah, that is two nationally televised stop signs to how many discussions that didn't involve a stop sign?

Don't let any of my comments (I don't think many will anyway) prevent you from being robotic....I mean using the stop sign. :D
