Does anyone know if officals have to follow the same rule as the players, if blood gets on our uniforms. This happen to me last season and since it was close to the first half I changed my shirt at half time. A player got smashed in the nose on a rebound and got blood all over my shirt. I ask this question tonight in our clinc meeting and no one could give me the anwser.

The rule doesn't necessarily apply to us. However, if the shirt was saturated, I would change it immediately. If there was just a little blood, I would probably ignore it unless it was in the 1st half and I could change it at halftime like you did.

This is one of those cases where standard precautions take precedence. If the amount of blood was incredibly small, I might leave it. Considering, however, that the contamination was from a player, I would probably ask one of the trainers/EMT's (they have them at all of your games, right? ;)) for a pair of gloves, and go carefully change the shirt.
