Technical Foul Shooters
I dont have my book with me at work; rec league game. Coach wanted 2 different players to each shoot 1 shot of the (2 shot) technical foul (both were in the game). Is this okay?
|
Yes. And they don't have to be in the game when the T is called. He can bring in a sub to shoot each one.
|
Yup. NF rules says "shooters" for technicals.
|
yes -- he can even bring in 2 different subs for each shot...just remember the ones that get subbed out cannot come back until the clock has legally been restarted. which would be after the inbounds.
|
Yes. Coach can have anyone on the floor shoot or send in a substitute to shoot. Then after the first the coach can have another shoot. This is not the case for an intentional foul where the person fouled must shoot both FTs.

Thank you.
the substitution rules in this league don't permit him to sub, but thank you for your answers. |

In NFHS yes, in the NCAA no.

Technical foul free throws may be attempted by any player or eligible substitute. Therefore, two different players may attempt the throws. (8-3) NCAA: 2006-07 Rules Book Rule 8 Free Throw Section 2. Technical fouls The free throws awarded because of any technical foul may be attempted by a player on the offended team, including an entering player, who shall be designated by the head coach or captain of the offended team; however, the same player shall shoot both free throws. I keep reusing this post. This is now the third time that I have posted it. :) |
