Jackets at State?

In Minnesota we do not wear jackets at all during State Tournament games. They explicitly tell you you do NOT need to bring a jacket because you will not wear it. I figured it was due to the wide variety of jackets worn by officials they felt they could end up with too many varieties so just eliminated them entirely.

What do other states do regarding jackets at State Tournaments?

It is not required that we wear a jacket at all, but it is very hard to find someone without one. I have never done a post season game or seen a post season game without a jacket being worn in any state tournament game.

Peace

In AZ if you are working a semi-final or final they provide shirts and jackets. We wear grey pinstriped shirts with a red jacket...everything before that we wear what we have all season.

Washington State: The first two tournaments I worked, we wore our own jackets with our local association patch on it. Last year, they provided similar jackets to each of us in the official's locker room.

Hopefully within the next couple of years I can give you an answer. I have worked a regional play-off game where I was the 'R' working with 2 guys from the visiting team's association and we wore our own jackets.

In NC, there's one jacket. You were it at the first scrimmage, at the state Finals and at every game in between.

Same in WV.

In WI, the state association provides the jackets for the officials.

In UT we wear the same jacket from the first game to the last. Everyone in the state wears the same jacket.

I worked for a couple of years in AZ and thought it was very strange to wear the grey shirts and red jackets. The commissioner of officials wants HS officials to do everything by the book and really gets on officials who cannot or will not use HS mechanics. His insistence on doing things the HS way makes his use of unauthorized shirts and a jacket that is not used any other time (except semis and finals) curious to me.

We just wear different jackets.

In Iowa, they sell jackets with the Iowa officials logo at it and that is what state tournament officials wear.

Maryland

In Maryland the state provides the jackets for the semifinals and finals.

In PA they dropped the wearing of jackets a couple of years ago for playoff games because most jackets have the local chapter name on the jacket. We wear the jackets for all varsity games during the regular season.

Three associations here and each wears their own jacket at State. We are looking into providing jackets which are the same for the entire crew.

This is all dumb to me. I think everyone should wear the same jacket and I hate wearing a shirt with anything on it other than the US flag.
