Having trouble/not sure with this one.
Sub. is at the table waiting for the next dead ball to come in.
A foul is called, A1 will be shooting two shoots. Can the Sub come in after you report the foul, or does he wait until the first shoot is taken.

Mark Dexter Fri Nov 02, 2001 11:49am

Wait for the first shot to be taken.

Subs go in either right before the last shot or immediately after the last shot (if it is good). Some sets of rules provide exceptions that if there is a required sub (injury, blood, DQ) all subs may enter, even if there are 2 or 3 shots left.

Sub cannot come in under these circumstances. The sub cannot come in during free throws until before the last foul shot is to take place. I.e. if it was a 2 shot foul, A6 would be able to enter after the first shot. for a 3 shout foul, after the 2nd. However, the new NF rules state that if a player has to be replaced do to an injury, or a disqualifcation, then all subsitutes who have legally reported, may enter once beckoned by an official.

Sub must generally wait until before the last FT to enter the game. However, if there is an injury, disqualification, or timeout, any sub may enter if they have properly reported.

The above three almost identical posts are the result of 3 guys posting within a minute of each other.

What are the odds?

There's One Exception

It's true that generally we wait until immediately before the last free throw to bring in waiting subs. However, there is a recommended exception.

If a player fouls out or otherwise leaves the game immediately after the foul, bring in both the sub for the leaving player and the subs at the table at the same time before any foul shots are taken. It makes no sense to replace a DQ'd player before the first of two foul shots and wait to bring in the other waiting subs before the second of two foul shots.

What are the odds?

Slighty better than a team hitting a 2 run HR with 2 outs
off the same Korean pitcher to tie consecutive World Series
games in the bottom of the 9th.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. :)

Thats what you call helping your fellow offical.

This is why I like this board, some times you do get your sarcastic, off the wall replies, but for the most part (95%)you get the help and advise you are looking for.

Which is the main reason I no longer post on that "other" board.

My last posting was "tongue-in-cheek".... Thanks for the compliment...

I agree... this is one of the best, readily-available and responsive resources for an official.

Keep having FUN!

The sarcastic, off the wall replies are half the fun. We deal with coaches constantly - we need to do something to keep our sanity!
