Throw in spot

Jump ball in the circle above the free throw line. I know the throw in goes baseline, but twice this year I have been ripped by coaches who insist it goes sideline. Is it an old rule that had it go sideline, or where would they get this idea?

Probably the NBA. The NBA takes all fouls and violations to the sideline. You also have to understand most coaches do not know the rules. Just chalk it up as another example of a coach not knowing a basic rule.

Peace

I've posted this before on this forum, but I don't mind posting it again.:D

My method is that whenever a coach argues with me about a rule, not a judgment call, and the coach is incorrect, he receives a technical foul.
This accomplishes two things. 1. It gets the coaches to stop yapping at me about the rules. 2. Perhaps, just maybe it might get the coach to go find an actual rules book and look it up. There is a slim chance that the coach might learn something.
