Double dribble

B5 gets a defensive rebound but has lost his balance and puts the basketball on the floor with both hands to regain his balance. After regaining his balance and standing up with the ball he decided to dribble. Is this double dribble? I don't believe it is, but can't find it in the rule or case book. Please cite rulebook/casebook reference.

4-15-4 Note 3: "...It is not a dribble when a player stands still and holds the ball and touches the floor once or more than once."
I do not have my book. I found a thread from years past. Same question, so I just copied and pasted.
Mick, it was your answer.

It can't be a "double dribble" because there's no such thing. I think you mean "illegal dribble". :)

Just trying to be jerky, er, I mean, accurate.

A dribble means release of the ball.....this did not happen here.

Now the blame is on me if it's wrong.

Thanks for the replies. I should have done a search, as it's already been covered previously
