Thumbs up

My name is Tim Dean and I am the Recreation Coordinator for the City of Cedar Park in the Austin area. We are starting a youth basketball league here this winter and will need basketball officials. I am looking for someone we could hire to do some basic basketball referee training and/or referee some of our games. I was hoping to find someone to spend a couple of hours with them showing them the basics of refereeing basketball and an overview of the rules and mechanics. I hope someone can help steer me in the right direction.

Also if you know of anyone interested in refereeing we are going to pay $12-$15 per game. Each game last about an hour on Saturdays.

You should contact the person who assigns Jr. High and High school games in your area. He may be willing to furnish you with some young officials who need to work or he may know of someone else who handles leagues similiar to yours.

If you don't know who assigns games in yoour area, call a local HS AD, and he can telly you.

Talking I love officiating...

BUT that would be one heck of a commute.

Best wishes in your undertaking.

As always, BktBallRef has offered up solid advice.
