D-III vs Good HS

Just curious, for those of you who do D-III how much different is it than GOOD HS ball? Been watching several D-III games and it looks like it would be a lot of fun to do.

The game is probably faster, in most cases. The coaches are probably more intense. You have very good teams and very bad teams at both levels, obviously. I have a VERY good D3 team on Friday, but it's probalby not going to be a great game, b/c the opponent is pretty mediocre. But it's a conference game, so you never know.

I don't have a lot of really really good high school teams in my area, so I can't really make a great comparison for you.

Hmm,

The "real" question would be:

Any large school boys team against any college women's team?

I work college on the women's side and love the mechanics. Some of the play is really good and others are ummmm, well, not so good. Pretty much everyone I work with are very good. Sometimes the crowds are lively and sometimes it's just Grandma up there knitting. I don't mind the travel and alot of the gyms are pretty close by.

HS ball can be the same as above except the odds of poor partners increase, the mechanics are different and the checks are smaller. Please don't misunderstand me about the poor partners. I don't mean that HS officials are not as good, just that in some areas they are not screened as well and some people are on games where they don't belong. We have alot of people here who could or have worked college and have chose not to continue.

All that said, I like em both.

The games CAN be a bit faster, but in some cases, a little slower as well. The HS team is usually less disciplined than the college team, and that can account for the slowdown. About 3/4s of the time, the college teams are better coached -- if for no other reason than they have more time to teach and everyone there is there to go to school.

The coaches are MUCH more intense and a bit harder to control. There are always exceptions, but this seems to be the rule.

At the 5A level in Texas, I doubt there are many D-I women's teams that could hang with the good boys teams. If they (women) were a REALLY good outside shooting team, maybe, but they'd get killed on the boards and the boys post players would be unstoppable.
