New Ruling: Senior Night

Boys Varsity game last night. I am U1 watching home warm-up. Home player dunks the ball during the lay-ups. It was a clear dunk with the rim moving and backboard shaking and the visiting coach watched it happen. I went the the R and we assessed the T against the player. The R notified both coaches. When I went to the pre-game conference here's what happens:

Home coach me: "I cannot believe you would call that against my player"
Me to home coach: "Coach, I did not have a choice, it was clear dunk"
Home coach to me: "But you can't call that,...it's Senior Night!"
Me to home coach: "Coach, I'll check my rule book at halftime, but I don't think there are any provisions in there making this legal on senior night"

Is this something I missed in the case book?

Yeah, you missed the part where the officials are supposed to set aside rules to protect the players from their own stupidity.

I guess you must have followed up with the coaching box only applying to one team...

My thoughts exactly - correct penalty is direct T on player, indirect T on home HC & he loses use of the box.......

Affirmative, the R took care of that already. I reported it to the R who was checking the scorebook and he notified the coaches.

No. It's not in mine either. I ripped the "Rule 10 Senior Night Provisions" section out of it.

Actually, Rule 10 is Fouls and Penalties.....Must have been Section 11 you ripped out.

That's what I was implying, W&S - I could have better named it "Rule 10 Senior Night Exceptions,";) since coach was implying he wanted an exception to the applied Rule 10 penalty in the OP.

Throw-in by the visitors at the division line opposite the table.
