Media timeouts (times out?) NCAA
In the Sun Belt, as other conferences, there are media timeouts at the first dead ball inside 16, 12, 8 and 4 minutes remaining in each half. Last night the last media time out of the first half was missed in the Denver-Troy game. No big deal, the radio folks got the missed break in when a second :60 time out was taken.
But if a second :60 isn't taken, is there any way to make up the missed media TO? What would you do if that happened? |
thank the good lord
thank the good lord that we get to get out of there a minute and a half earlier :D

you got that right
Yep JRut, you are absolutely correct....I don't mind the extra 10 minutes now for what I make, I just don't ever get to worry about media time outs LOL...

If the under 4 media time out is not taken because of no stoppage of play, it is not made up.
However, if the under 12 media time out, for instance, does not occur until 7:45 remains, the time out is taken then. The next whistle after that will begin the under 8 media time out, even if an inbounds pass is tipped back out of bounds. Also in the last couple of years in some games, the first 30 second time out called for in the 2nd half has been lengthened to a full for media purposes. You may see the official at the table signaling a 30, then going directly to the full signal, and then pointing to the timer. |
